Hiding in My Craft Room #127

Hello and welcome to a brand new challenge at
We have a great theme for you this week and one that's very timely....
Holiday Colors.

Here's a quick peek of my card:

Our lucky winner will be receiving this package of goodies.

I had so much fun making this card!  The primary reason for that fun was the incredible images I used.  They are from Mo Manning and the set is called Tea for Three.  It's a great set that includes 3 sweet little girls, a tea set, cupcakes and ice cream.

For my card today, I just used 2 of the little girls.  They made me think of my niece's daughters who are just so darned cute.  A few weeks ago my niece's hubby mentioned on Facebook how much fun he had during vacation being able to play tea party with his girls.  What a precious memory they were able to make!  This card was made with them in mind.

I made this into a teapot shaped easel card.
T
he teapot was cut with my Cricut Expression
and the Wall Decor and More cartridge. I altered the size and shape in Cricut Craft Room.

You can see in this photo that there were 3 teapots
cut.  I glued the first 2 together along just the top edges.
The final one was glued to the bottom edge of the one
below it.  The concept is exactly the same as a traditional
easel card....just in a different shape.

The pennants were cut using the Party Picks
and Pennants cart in Craft Room.  I merged 2 images
together to make it long enough for the word "Imagine."
Is there anything more magical about childhood than
the freedom of imagination?

All of the edges have been inked with
Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Tea Dye.
It only seemed appropriate.

Other items used to make this card were:
Coloring Medium:  ProMarkers
Cardstock:  Papertrey Ink
Lace: Martha Stewart (It was dyed with Tea Dye ink)
Poinsettia and rhinestone stickers:  Michaels $ bin
Mulberry paper flowers:  Wild Orchid Crafts
Beads:  The Bead Gallery
Ribbon:  My stash
Angel charm:  My Mom's stash (Thanks!)

You can find this card in the following challenges:

Lacy Sunshine Guest Designer....That's ME!!

Okay, if you couldn't tell from the title of this post....
I'm a bit excited over the moon excited to enjoy the fun and honor of being Guest Designer for the next challenge over at

The theme for this new fortnightly challenge is a great one:
It's a Bling Thing!
So get out that glitter, those rhinestones, those charms....
Whatever your heart fancies and bling it up, baby!

I was given Karmi Kornpops to play with for this challenge and I'm completely in love with her.  Heather is such a talented lady!  Her digis are so original and fun to use.  I'm constantly inspired by the little cuties I find in her store.  She's just opened an Etsy shop too.  You can find loads of her images there with more to be added very soon.
Go check it out here.

I love the way the glitter paper really sparkles!
The papers were my jumping off point for the design of this card.

In this photo and the one below,
you can see the rhinestone swirls that I used.
They actually began life as one very large swirl that I cut apart
so they would fit in the small spaces available for more bling.

You can see the dimension the pop dots add to the image and mats.

Putting the glitter on the roses quickly reminded me why I very rarely
use glitter.  Not only do I make an incredible mess with it but this time
I got some in my eye too.  FYI: That is not a pleasant experience.

The ingredients used for this card were:
Cardstock:  Papertrey Ink
DSP:  Recollections "Retro" stack, DCWV
Coloring medium:  ProMarkers
Beads:  Bead Gallery, Dollar Tree
Pearl sprays:  Hobby Lobby bridal department
Ribbons:  Making Memories, Dollar Tree, my stash
Pearl stickers:  Recollections
Rhinestone swirls:  Recollections
Mulberry paper flowers:  Wild Orchid Crafts

You can find this card in the following challenges:

A Gem of a Challenge -- Gems, gems, gems
Jo's Scrap Shack -- Things with wings
Totally Papercrafts -- Use glitter
A Little Bit Crafty -- Sparkle and shine

I had a blast doing this card.
Bling is something that I'm still trying to get used to using
so this theme truly was a challenge for me!
Go get your card ready and join in the fun.  There are always 2 winners drawn so twice the chances to collect some new Lacy Sunshine images.  PLUS if you use one of Heather's images in this week's challenge, you can receive a new image next week through her Loyalty Program.  Pretty sweet deal, right?

Thanks so much for spending some time here today!

HIMCR -- SSS #123

Happy Saturday, everyone!
Since this is the second Saturday of November, today begins one of my favorite challenge themes at
It's time for Super Scraps Saturday.
So get out your scrap box and create something beautiful....or if you're like me, just dig through the pile on your desk.  I really do love using my scraps.  It always feels like I'm getting something for nothing.  Plus, it helps clean away some of my mess.  Double score!

Our sponsor this week is

I was lucky enough to receive this adorable image to play with for this week's SSS challenge:

She makes me think of Zsa Zsa Gabor.
Or maybe an animated version of Dr. Zhivago.
Isn't she just too cute?!

The pattern papers are from my scraps of Christmas papers I have left from last year.
The paper doily is from a hotel hubby and I stayed in a few weeks ago....
love using found items!

The ribbon and rick rack are both scraps that I've had for who knows how long.
In fact, I have no idea where the rick rack even came from!
The pine tips were snipped from a wall basket I had done for our front porch last year.
I knew I wanted to rework it this year so it's fair game to be pilfered.

Other items used to make this card were:
Cardstock:  Recollections, Papertrey Ink
Coloring medium:  ProMarkers
Rhinestone stickers:  Michaels Dollar Bin
Wreath charm:  Joann
Pearl spray:  Hobby Lobby bridal department
Mulberry paper flowers:  Wild Orchid Crafts

I need to play with my new light box a bit more.
Since I use a white poster board for the backdrop,
the pearl spray that's tucked into the pine tips is almost lost.
Maybe an off white/ivory poster board would help....?

Thank you so much for spending some time with me today!
All of us on the HIMCR Design Team are excited to see the new creations shared with us this week for our Super Scraps Saturday challenge.

My first card for Just Inspirational Challenges

A little over a week ago I received an invitation to join the Design Team at Just Inspirational Challenges.  I'm a member of Team B and I couldn't be happier to be there!  They are a group of very talented and friendly ladies.  I really look forward to working with all of them for the next few months!  You can find links to each of them in my right side bar....go take a look at their blogs.  I'm not exaggerating when I say they're really talented!

Today marks the opening of a new challenge at Just Inspirational Challenges.  It's one of my favorite challenge themes:
Bingo!
You know the drill.  Just decide on 3 squares in a straight row and use those elements to create your project.
Here's the bingo board for you:
This week Team B is lucky enough to have Penny Blossom as our sponsor.  There are so many adorable images over there I just can't even tell you....go check it out for yourself!  Christine is the artist and she has a style all her own that I love.
Before I show my finished card for this week, I have to show you what happens when a person inexperienced at using ProMarkers has a very juicy, brand new marker and looks up to answer a quick question.
See where that arrow is pointing?  Yeah, that wasn't what I meant to do!  I seriously just looked up for a second and when I looked back down I almost had a cow.  It takes me so long to get faces and hair done and I was actually pretty happy with this one.  Starting over wasn't an option.  Time for some quick thinking.

I have to say that I'm really lovin' my "recovery on ink-gate" as Kate called it in our JIC Team B Facebook page.  (How funny is that?)  Here's my card for the Bingo challenge:
I decided to use the row that contains:
Squares, 3 papers, and flowers

This adorable Penny Blossom image is called "Hang in there."  After I started fussy cutting to eliminate the spot where the purple marker threw up, I noticed she looked like she was leaning out a window so I just went with it.

The bunting is cut from paper in the Paper House Romance 6x6 pad.  (Thanks again, Troy!)  I got the rustic twine on Etsy at the Glitter and Kitsch shop.  The teeny, tiny clothes pins were ordered off of Amazon ages ago.  I didn't realize just how teeny, tiny they were.  They were too small for my original purpose but I knew that someday they would be perfect for something.  That someday arrived when I needed to salvage this image.  Here's a pic of the side of the card to show the clothes pins a bit better:

The brick design paper as well as the very light pink behind that are from packs of Studio G paper that I got in the Michaels Dollar Bin!  I wish my photo showed the design on the pink paper; it's so subtle and sweet.  The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Even with the ink accident and the need to re-think my design for this card, I had so much fun doing it.  Penny Blossom's super cute image is definitely responsible for that!  You really should go check out Christine's store....she's incredibly talented.

All of us at Just Inspirational Challenges are looking forward to seeing how you decide to play Bingo this week.  Have some fun with it and good luck!!

I would like to include this card in the following challenges:

Lacy Sunshine's Oscar and Olivia baby tag

Last week my "Bright and Cheery Halloween" card was named to the Top 3 at the Lacy Sunshine Challenge Blog!  I'm still really excited about it because there are always fantastic projects submitted so the fact that mine was singled out is a huge compliment!
Thanks again to Sunshine Girl Deanne for selecting my card.
By the way, see my badge?!  (Happy squeals!)

In addition to that honor, there was also a prize of one free digi of my choice.  (Squeals continuing!)  And since I used one of Heather's images last week, I received this week's challenge image for FREE through the loyalty program.  Pretty sweet deal, right?  You can check out all of the details here.

The image that I chose for my prize was one that just really caught my eye.  It's Oscar and Olivia...and they're otters.  Holding hands.  So cute!  That's the digi I used for today's project and I'm in love with their sweet faces.  I do have to admit that my inexperience at coloring animal fur with my ProMarkers led to little Oscar looking an awful lot like an Ewok.
But, I loved Ewoks so I'm okay with it.

Since my Cricut Fabulous Finds cartridge is very sadly overlooked far too often, I thought I'd give it some love today.  The luggage tags are super cute so that's what I used.  The scalloped circles were cut using Elegant Edges.  I find myself going to that cart over and over.
If you're looking for a new addition to your Cricut library, I highly recommend it!

Here are a couple of side views of my gift tag so you can see how much dimension there is.

The other items I used making this card were:

Papers:  Bazzill and Papertrey Ink
Printed papers: Michaels Dollar Bin (love those packs)
Mulberry flowers: Wild Orchid Crafts and Ebay
Beads: Dollar Tree
Footprint charm:  Michaels in the baby shower section
Seam binding: Glitter and Kitsch over at Etsy
Lace: Martha Stewart
Other bits and bobs: my stash

Making this tag reminded me of my days rollerskating during the early 80's.  My best friend and I were known for our love of all clothing lavender and purple with an occasional touch of pink.  The song "Betty Davis Eyes" kept playing in my head....aah, those were some fun times.

Here's a final look at the gift tag:

My first telescoping card

I think I may have just found a new contender for my favorite card style although I'm not sure anything can replace easel cards.  Today I tried my hand at a telescope card and it was so easy!  I love that it has so much impact and is really different from most cards.

It did, of course, take me much longer than it probably should have.  I'm just so darned indecisive on how to embellish cards.  There are so many things yet to learn about color, balance, scale, etc.  I'm getting there....I think.  My comfort level is increasing with each card I make so that's a positive sign.  And, besides, I'm having a blast.  What else matters?

The image used on this card is from Mo Manning.  Love, love, love her work!  It always puts a smile on my face to just look at one of her images.  They're really fun to color too.  There's enough detail to make it look great without so much that it becomes fussy.  There's a fine line between the two and Ms Manning seems to know just where it is.

Recipe for this card is as follows:
Papers:  Papertrey Ink, Bazzill, K&Company
Cricut cartridges: Elegant Edges, Flower Shoppe
Markers: ProMarkers
Stamps: Little Yellow Bicycle, Papertrey Ink, Inkadinka Doo,
Clear Dollar Stamps
Flowers: Wild Orchid Crafts and handmade for the light peach one
Brads, bling and ribbon: From my stash

Here's the card:

I do wish I had set the brad a little higher on the bottom panel.  I'll know better next time.  But don't you think it looks like there's static electricity in the little guy's hair as if the middle panel were a balloon?  I like the way it looks.  It's what I call a happy accident.
