Challenge #5 for the Virtual Card Making Party

Challenge #5 was hosted by Donna and was Masking Tape Block Stamping....another technique I'd not seen before.  I love this kind of technique because it's completely random and will give a different result each time you do it.

Donna did a really great tutorial and I would recommend taking a look at it, especially if you like making your own background papers.  I did do a couple of things differently.  First, I wrapped my stamp block in aluminum foil before I did the masking tape.  That made clean up easy peasy....love that.

I also used 2 colors of ink.  I used the yellow shade first and just didn't feel like it had enough impact so I wiped the block down with a baby wipe and then re-inked it with brown.  Now we were talkin'!  I am ecstatic with the result.  My hubby said it looked just like birch bark to him and that's exactly it!

You can find my card and the others for Challenge #5 here.

I went with a masculine feel to this card but think it would be perfect for a woman too.

Masking tape block stamping is going to be a go to for me when I need to find an interesting background paper in just the right colors.  Thanks so much to Donna for including this technique!!

I've also submitted this card to:
